A Malaysian Journey Through Western Australia's South West

One of the greatest compliments our region can receive is when visitors from the other side of the world choose to share their experience with others.

Following a Tourism WA media familiarisation tour in December 2025, Malaysian journalist Carmen Cha explored Perth and Western Australia's South West, introducing readers to a journey that combined forests, fresh produce, local flavours and unforgettable landscapes.

Her collection of articles highlighted the variety of experiences available throughout the region, from accommodation and local food to a six-day self-drive itinerary showcasing some of the South West's most memorable destinations.

One feature followed the South West Edge touring route, encouraging travellers to slow down and discover the places that make this part of Western Australia so special. Along the way, visitors were introduced to iconic attractions, unique accommodation, award-winning food and wine, and some of the spectacular natural landscapes found throughout the Southern Forests.

We were delighted to see our Beach & Forest Eco Adventure included as part of the promotional video accompanying the itinerary. Showcasing the transition from towering karri forests to the Yeagarup Dunes and wild coastline, it perfectly captures the diversity that continues to surprise visitors to Pemberton.

Stories like these are an important reminder that regional journeys are about much more than a single destination. They encourage travellers to explore further, stay longer and discover the people, places and experiences that make Western Australia's South West one of Australia's great road trips.

We would like to thank Tourism WA for continuing to invest in international media opportunities, DBCA for waiving the National Park entry costs and Carmen Cha for helping introduce Malaysian travellers to the beauty and diversity of our region.

You can read her other articles from her stay here for her accommodation recommendations & here for her delicious food journey.
