A Favourite Experience in Western Australia's South West

There are moments that remind us why we love sharing Pemberton with visitors from around the world.

Following a Tourism WA media familiarisation visit in December 2025, Malaysian travel writer Tunku Ilyana explored Western Australia's South West for Gaya Travel, one of Malaysia's leading travel publications. Her feature, 6 Experiences That You Must Try in Southwest Australia, showcased some of the region's most memorable attractions and experiences.

We were incredibly honoured to discover that our Beach & Forest Eco Adventure was described as her favourite experience.

During the tour, Tunku travelled through the towering karri forests of Warren National Park, explored the vast Yeagarup Dunes and experienced the rugged beauty of the Southern Ocean. Along the way, Graeme shared stories of the region's history, wildlife and unique landscapes, bringing this remarkable part of the Southern Forests to life.

One of the things we enjoy most about hosting travel writers is seeing Pemberton through fresh eyes. What we experience every day can leave a lasting impression on someone visiting for the first time. Reading Tunku's description of the forests, dunes and coastline reminded us just how special this region truly is.

Her accompanying article, Where I Stayed in Southwest Australia and Who Each Place Is Perfect For, also encouraged travellers to slow down, stay longer and explore more of Western Australia's South West – something we have always believed is the best way to experience our region.

International media stories like these play an important role in introducing new visitors to Pemberton and the Southern Forests. They help inspire travellers to venture beyond Perth and discover the incredible diversity of landscapes, wildlife, local produce and experiences that make this part of Western Australia so unique.

Our sincere thanks go to Tunku Ilyana and the team at Gaya Travel for sharing the beauty of the South West with readers throughout Malaysia.

We also gratefully acknowledge Tourism WA for creating opportunities through its international media familiarisation programme, and the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) for supporting approved media visits through the waiver of national park entry fees. As a licensed commercial tour operator, we contribute park entry fees throughout the year, and this support helps showcase Western Australia's spectacular national parks to future visitors.
