  • Somewhere over the Rainbow🌈

Just over 10 years ago, we met a couple who decided Pemberton was the ideal place to raise their family. They found the most perfect place to do it! To give you an idea of location, if you stand at our office during rainbow season, it is where the rainbows end (or start). Around 1km from town, up the Pumphill Rd behind the Pemberton Caravan Park, across the road from family friendly Pumphill Farm. They back onto Forest Park which is threaded with the fabulous Pemberton Pool mountain bike trails and the Bibbulmun Track. The cottages are gorgeous, romantic and intimate with king size beds, and private spa’s overlooking the forest. The perfect getaway for couples looking to escape from the big smoke. Interested in agriculture? Have a look at what they have done to the rest of their property, in a few years you should be able to buy Truffle or Avocado’s direct from the source. Anyhow, enough from me, give Katrina and Steve a call or visit their website: Rainbow Trail Chalets is an adult retreat that offers luxury spa chalets with forest views and access to stunning walk trails. email: rainbowtrailchalets@gmail.com www.rainbowtrailchalets.com.au mb: 0438561664

  • The Mustangs were in town!

Karen, the brains and beauty (sorry Vince) behind Mr Mustang Hire has been enjoying spending time around our region, and has documented it all online in her new exciting blog, 'Ms Mu5tang & Co'. She has also shared her stories on Facebook and online on their website. I must admit, seeing what you do in writing sometimes makes you realise that you have a pretty fabulous business! The links are below, we would love you to have a read, they have been a great advocate for local businesses for years, and we were fortunate enough to come runner up to their win for their previous business at the inaugural Southern Forest Business Awards a few years ago. Karen wrote: "Visitors to the region can enjoy 4WD tours, canoeing, fishing, mountain biking along the world renowned Munda Biddi cycling trail and bush walking along the Bibbulmun walking track. For the gourmet, the Southern Forest food region is known for marron, truffles, fresh milk, and honey whilst the Pemberton wine region is recognised worldwide for the popular Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Noir wines. And of course a visit to Pemberton is not complete without a trip to the ever popular Jarrah Jacks Brewery or Holysmoke Gourmet Cafe situated alongside the Pemberton Fine Woodcraft Gallery (note unfortunately now all closed - new businesses have popped up.) Some 20 years ago Graeme and Toni Dearle were offered an opportunity of a lifetime. To stop and re-evaluate their lives where they were working in South Australia and try something new and more aligned with their hearts. Toni's parents had been operating chalets in the region for several years and it was seen as a 'retirement dream' for the couple. The dream of a ‘tree-change’ for many is just that, a dream. However, a dream became a reality for this aspiring young couple and in September 1999 Graeme and Toni flew back to Pemberton, Western Australia to begin an off-road tour business exploring the beautiful forests and National Parks in the South West region. A plan for ‘Pemberton Discovery Tours’ was drafted and Toni states ‘we started slowly with informal tours, fine tuning and perfecting our route until the end of 1999’. Fast forward to 2019 and what Toni and Graeme have created in the last two decades is outstanding. Having achieved and held quality Eco-Tourism Accreditation for eighteen years Pemberton Discovery Tours is a respectable and internationally renowned tour product that is constantly evolving. Memorable milestone events include renting a retail space before acquiring their own shop front in the main street of Pemberton, purchasing mountain bikes for hire, assisting with film locations, working with government bodies to create camping opportunities in the National Parks, and more recently opening the Pemberton Lodge." Ok, like what she has written - just wait till you read the whole article! Read More Thanks for visiting Karen & Vince :) We loved your feedback and excitement over what we do! PS - find out more! • Tag along with your new car (or hire one for your holiday!)

We recently enjoyed the company of a French couple who decided to make their holiday in Australia a bit more adventurous than the normal when they hired a car from Australian 4WD hire. Getting off the beaten track, and doing it safely was important to them, so they chose the tag along option to join us! The Jeep Wrangler is not our favourite vehicle - we don't recommend the 2011 model, but this late version Jeep they hired was more than capable to tackle our tour route - and these guys had a lot of fun doing it too! Graeme produced a video of the tour - feel free to share! These guys had a blast! So if you are considering a 4WD experiences. Contact us via phone or email or view our Tag along page on this site. Then give Jake and his team at Australian 4WD hire a call on 1300 360 339. They will be more than comfortable in providing a vehicle suitable for your next adventure - and recommending us as an option to learn a little more about using their car! • Unearthed Pemberton - happening this May 2019

Have you heard about Unearthed Pemberton? The Unearthed festival came about from a group of people who recognised that visitors to the region, although curious, had no idea of the hidden treasures concealed behind our 'tourist mecca' and small town hospitality. Giving guests an experience where they can see behind the farm gates and into the true nature of living in this region. Whether it is a farm experience or adventure into the National Parks, this May there will be some unique and fabulous experiences available to everyone who ventures here to the Southern Forest Region. WARNING: It can be a lifechanging experience (We know - there are at least 5 new families moved to the region just because of the hospitality, kindness and beauty that lies beneath getting off and out of the traditional tourist drive.) From behind the scenes Truffle tours to Fingerlime Tours, Art in the Vines to cocktail functions and art exhibitions. It will be a wonderful time to visit the region. We have taken our "Beach & Forest Eco Adventure" and given it a little twist... converting it to an afternoon adventure to the Yeagarup Dunes for some photography, fun with some local food and wine. The Dune Safari is designed to be at a slower pace to our normal adventure; totally dependant on the group we have onboard as we will be limiting capacity to 13. Keen to join us? You can book direct on our BOOK NOW Page #unearthedpemberton #Unearthed #YeagarupDunes #yeagarupdunes #pembertonwine #PembertonProduce

  • Wine and Dine with your friends (*anytime of the year).

Our eco tours are what we are best known for, however our wine and food tours are becoming the most popular item on our itinerary for groups! Spring to Autumn brings seasonality with our strawberry farm becoming a great stop on the wine tour! Avocado season is usually summer (late November - early Jan) and apples from mid to late March. Food paired with wine is popular, with local wineries encouraging guests to stay a little longer and try some amazing food with their products. #avocadosmash #pembertonavocado Jarrah Jacks Brewery is located around 3km from Pemberton town, with both beer and wine available to enjoy. The food is amazing, usually quick to deliver. We do try and head here with a group; the ambience alone is wonderful! Also their chips are to die for. #pembertonpotatos If you are coming over peak times please book +61 8 9776 1333 as they have a general rule to only serve drinks with seated dining. Pemberley would have to be our favourite destination with groups. Owners Dave and Monica know how to look after our guests - and repeats always want to return to this piece of paradise. Looking at travelling to Pemberton with your friends? Be it #weddingspartiesanything #girlsweekend #grouppackages then give us a call! We would be happy to organise a private charter for you all! Check out our wine tour and progressive lunch options! Need somewhere to stay? Checkout what we have done with the shop! • Mountain Bike Trails to get your heart racing!

When you think of the Southern Forest region you may think about winding forest rails, tall trees that scrape the sky, great food and wine and picture perfect views that greet you at every bend in the road. Yes that’s just part of the journey... imagine it by pedal power... We have our mate Nathan back onboard (he also moonlights as a DJ, a DBCA fire crew, Ambo officer and Fire and Rescue volunteer). He’s an awesome friend and mate and a pretty good guy that we love to have around! We have given him control of the Facebook page - so if you are thinking about heading trialling our trails jump online and chat - or send an email, and or just pick up the phone.

  • Wow what a ride!

The past few months have been exciting for us, with the added media attention placing a spotlight on the beautiful town of Pemberton Western Australia and the Southern Forest region in terms of quality accommodation, amazing food and memorable tour experiences. On the 29th April Destination WA showcased our Beach & Forest Eco Adventure tour with Chrissy. It was a fabulous day out filming and the dunes look amazing (like always!) there is nothing quite like the #Yeagarupdunes all to yourself in the middle of the D’Entrecasteaux National Park - beauty, wonder, awe and peace all wrapped into one destination. Certainly one of Mother Nature’s great achievements. If you missed it you can watch it here . ~ With the 2018 Truffle Kerfuffle starting soon on the 22nd June, our tours have also been included on the itinerary to make the event encompass the whole region. You may have noticed Graeme’s Instagram posts tagging the event to help bring awareness to more than just the black gold aka black  Truffle - and to cement this region as an ecotourism destination. As part of the story from the region the tours have been included in articles around Australia including this one from The Sydney Morning Herald . A great promotion of the region! ~ We have to give our friends at #AustraliasSouthWest a huge shoutout and thank you - the recent photo shoot with #FrancesAndrijich has given a memorable library of imagery for promoting the #Southwest and #SouthernForests - we spent the day with Frances and Sarah taking them to our secret spots so their library includes some of the best locations we know about! You can see them pop up in editorials and stories about the region - beautiful imagery 😊. ~ Flight network have included us as one of the top 31 experiences in Australia - wow what an honour!!! You can have a read or check it out here. A huge thank you to everyone involved in promoting this stunningly beautiful region. • Creating fun out of litter

Yes the 2017 Annual Beach Cleanup has come and gone - with an under average 6m3 of rubbish collected by our fab volunteers - great to see the beach so clean! Thanks once again to the 20 plus members of TrackcareWA who made the effort to visit the region and stay at the Yeagarup Hut for a few days - it was most appreciated! The Sunday was the ‘jump onboard’ part of the clean up with 5 fabulous volunteers plus ourselves cleaning from Lake Yeagarup to the Yeagarup hut. Some of the quirky stuff we found included this ‘Kraken’ of a rope and a boat! The rope was dragged up the hill but dumped by others doing the right thing - we had enough people onboard to man handle it over the crest before dragging it through to the lake and into the trailer. A huge thank you to Tangaroa blue ocean care society / Keep Australia Beautiful Council to organise the paperwork, bags and event; Parks & Wildlife for signage and extra bags and additional support and all our Marvelous volunteers who gave up their weekend to join us in keeping the coast clean. 😊 #YeagarupDunes #Yeagarupbeach #Rubbishonbeach #Tangaroabluebeachcleanup #KeepAustraliaBeautifulbeachcleanip #Volunteeringinourparks #Howtogetafreetour

  • Fun things to do on your Pemberton holiday

When most people think of Pemberton, they think of a quiet, quaint timber milling town in the southwest. With the Forrest Hwy, the distance to Pemberton is now comparable to Margaret River with drive times no less than 3.5 hours (via Hamar St, SW Hwy and Martyn Paleasey Drive through Dardanup and Boyanup taking off an additional 15min travel time. ) So - when you get to Pemberton, what has changed? Not much! We are still quiet (quieter now the mill has shut), you probably won’t be seeing your neighbour, camping is picking up as people take a quick opportunity to bush camp with an actual campfire before the fireban is implemented. However new businesses have started, old businesses have changed hands and have a new lease of life. Pemberton is fun, it is an active place so bring your mountain bike, bring your canoe or kayak and your hiking boots. If you don’t have any of these then you can hire bikes here and canoes are available to hire at Karri Valley Resort or on a tour with Andy on a Pemberton Hiking & Canoeing trip our camping with our sister company WA Wilderness. The sky’s are clearing - and the stars are amazing! Our new tour brings in the new with the old as we have young Kieran, our local expert on astronomy and the stars available for private charter or on location. The restaurants, wineries, galleries and local farm stalls are top quality - so a delicious way to remember your Pemberton holiday. And of course our tours - travelling through our amazing Yeagarup Dunes and now 18 years operating there is no better way to discover our outdoors. If you have a teenager just heading out onto the road a tag along tour with Graeme is a great way to introduce them to 4WDing in a safe educational way. So if fun is what you are after - Pemberton has it in spades. If you want more assistance I will happily flick you an itinerary to guide you to your next holiday here in Pemberton.
