We are so excited to partner with Peter and offer some special guided Fungi Experience here in our beautiful Pemberton Forests, its a new idea but a great way for us to share our property and our love for our environment with others.
This Tour is led by local expert Peter Donecker. With over 40 years of fungi exploration — 20 of those in the forests around Pemberton — Peter brings deep knowledge and infectious enthusiasm to this new offering.
Peter Donecker is a former chemical engineer, author of the ‘Tall Trees and Mushrooms’ blog, and administrator of the WA Fungi and Australian Wild Mushroom Hunters Facebook groups. His passion for fungi and ecological systems has attracted a strong following from amateur mycologists to curious nature lovers alike.
The 3-hour experience begins in Pemberton, travelling in convoy to the Jasper Tree Campground, where guests will enjoy a guided forest walk exploring local fungi species. Weather and conditions permitting, the tour may also include a drive to a nearby pine plantation. The event concludes with afternoon tea among the tall trees, with an optional campfire dinner and overnight camping add-on available for those wanting to extend their stay.
This tour offers a rare opportunity to connect with nature in an immersive, educational, and family-friendly setting. It complements the existing Beach & Forest Eco Adventure, and allows visitors to stay and explore more of what Pemberton’s unique forest ecosystem has to offer.
